The Cormac Trust in association with the Oliver King Foundation in Liverpool would ask that you sign and send the e-petition below to the U.K. Government to demand action against SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome).

100,000 signatures are needed to ensure at least parliamentary debate.

The Oliver King Foundation was set up following the sudden death of Oliver, a fit and healthy young man who died while taking part in a swimming race in 2011, aged 12. Cormac McAnallen was 24 when he died suddenly, also fit and healthy, and neither had showed any previous symptoms of a heart condition.

The Cormac Trust and The Oliver King Foundation share similar aims, and demand that the UK Government take action on the following:

• To raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Death in the Young (SADS).
• To set up a screening programme for all young people between 12 and 35.
• To place defibrillators in all public buildings, and provide training in their use.

Sports people are now being saved by defibrillators at the pitch.

E.g Chris McNeill (young soccer player from N.I.), Gabriel Tumelty (GAA referee) and Fabrice Muamba (Bolton Wanderers footballer) all survived a cardiac arrest because there was a defibrillator at the pitch side. We believe everyone deserves the same chance.

Each week between 12 and 19 young people are lost to SADS. in the United Kingdom, with at least 1 of these deaths occurring in Northern Ireland. Together we CAN make a difference.
